my perspective
I see a lot of YouTubers out there complaining about the a1 from how you don't need 50mp and 30fps, the price, lack of full screen articulation, etc. Seems like most of these people are create content for their own social media so their perspective may be valid for their use and the a1 is probably overkill for them. But for those of us who are sports, action, motorsports photographers do appreciate these features.
Who is the a1 for?
This camera's design was influenced by professional photographers feedback. For instance some may say pro cameras have a grip built into them when the a1 has a detachable grip. Yes, it may not be as weather sealed as a built-in grip but many pro photographers wanted to keep the small size for packing into bags making room for lenses, flashes, etc.

why not use a cheaper zoom lens?
Many popular YouTube reviewers compare lenses like the 400 2.8 to cheaper zoom lenses. Though one can compare these lenses they are used for different purposes for most professional sports photographers.
There is no real comparison to a zoom lens when it comes to the tac sharp image you get from the 400 2.8.
